Great advice on goal setting. I've often been told the first step in business is to figure out the 'why' behind your dream. It's not 'to make money' because there are reasons underlying why people want money. As the story shares, it doesn't matter what your goal may be, you can overcome obstacles when you know why you're headed in that direction.

Hi Paul,

I really love this analogy. Our WHYS are so important, they make us focus and help us achieve our goals. Setting time limits like in this analogy are also a great way to make sure you stay on route for success. I am not sure becoming a millionnaire in 2 hours with network marketing is achieveable but I always give it my best shot!!

What's your WHY by the way?
Beth

Hey Paul,

Thanks for this great reminder. Without a powerful Why it's just too easy to give up on things at the first sign of difficulty.

Many people think their Why is about money but that's not really definitive enough to create such urgency that we call Nick to fly us out of the maze of traffic! If it's money that you desire, it's important to identify the ways in which it will change your lifestyle, such as being freed from financial worry (avoidance of pain) or having the resources to be able to pay for extras like vacations, fancy cars, etc. (attaining pleasure).

Of course, it's not all about the money - just using that as an example...

Thanks for sharing that great story from
Denis Waitley. He is a great man and we
can learn so much from him.

We all have our Why and we should have
it written down to remind us WHY we live
the way we do or should. Every once in a while
when we hit a bump in the road, revisit your WHY
and get back on course.

Thanks Paul....

Cheers

Hey Paul,

Wonderful post and thanks for sharing it with us.

As they say, you MUST have a why in order to achieve anything you want in life. Having a WHY that makes you cry is even a better why. Too many people think that their why is about paying bills. But just wanting to pay your bills isn't enough. Heck, you can get a second or even third job to do that if that's all you want.

Keep up the great work and we look forward to future posts.

Awesome Paul! I have been told this before in MLM that it is very important to know your "WHY" so that you will never give up, even in the face of obstacles. Your post is such a great reminder to hold the Vision, no matter what, and eventually the hows will appear for us to take action on and achieve our goals. Thanks so much for sharing!

The passion of our WHY determines which obstacles will stand in our way. When our why is huge, we are lifted, and able to see over the things that come our way. Many people today who fail have a little tiny puny why that they aren't passionate about. For them, there is no lift and even the smallest of obstacles becomes a massive barrier to success. Rather than start chiseling at the barrier, its far better to get a bigger why and see over it! Thanks Paul!

Great post Paul!

It's all about the WHY... If you
have a big enough WHY, then the
HOW just shows up:)
